Sunrise Kindergarten Daily Adventures<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Our Educators worked tirelessly to establish this program with support from the Committee of<\/span>
\nManagement. who commenced their adventures program in 2009. We are very fortunate to<\/span>
\nhave 5 local playgrounds to explore and the Merri creek and bushlands, the special settings<\/span>
\noffers the chance of endless discovery.<\/span>
\nSunrise Kindergarten successfully piloted the daily adventures program in 2009.<\/span><\/p>\n

When we began the program<\/span>
\nAustralian and International research shows that children today are spending much more time<\/span>
\nindoors, mainly in front of screens and participating in structured activities.\u00a0\u00a0These activities<\/span>
\nrestrict children from participating regularly outdoors unstructured activities and exploring<\/span>
\nnatural environments.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Our adventures support children and overall Neo-Humanist Educations philosophy, which<\/span>
\npromotes learning respect and love for all of creation as well as a realisation of the<\/span>
\ninterconnectedness of everything.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Benefits of Outdoor Play<\/span><\/strong>
\nThrough play we embrace children\u2019s ability to explore, create, problem solve, collaborate and<\/span>
\nimagine. Furthermore, \u201cinvite open-ended interactions, spontaneity, risk-taking, exploration,<\/span>
\ndiscovery, and connection with nature, this links in with our philosophy of environmental<\/span>
\nconsciousness and fosters an appreciation of the natural environment, develop environmental<\/span>
\nawareness and provide a platform for ongoing environmental education, road safety and to<\/span>
\nfurther fosters relationships between children and to build relationships and engage within the<\/span>
\ncommunity.<\/span><\/p>\n

Outdoor play improves physical development<\/span><\/strong>
\nPhysical skills are important for growth, physical coordination, the movement of the body and<\/span>
\nbrain development. When children play outdoors they increase their ability to balance, jump,<\/span>
\nclimb, throw, run and skip.<\/span>
\nChildren are natural learners. Daily adventures will provide your child with the time and an ideal<\/span>
\nenvironment for them to learn in uninterrupted play.<\/span>
\nDaily adventures are a special part of your child\u2019s total Sunrise experience.<\/span>
\nThey will have the opportunity to play in the rain, roll down grassy mounds, balance along fallen<\/span>
\nlogs, get involved in dramatic play, find insects and draw with sticks in the ground. Each child\u2019s<\/span>
\ndevelopmental progression, advancing skill levels and particular interests are observed by their<\/span>
\nteachers. The teachers will use this knowledge to support the children\u2019s learning just as they do<\/span>
\nat home kinder.<\/span>
\nTeachers will support children as they take the risks and face challenges essential to well<\/span>
\nrounded learning.<\/span><\/p>\n
